General Collection
The Egremont Free Library is a "readers' library," specializing in contemporary fiction and biography, and non-fiction dealing with contemporary issues. Its collection of 7000+ books is supplemented by the inter-library loan program, which taps into the resources of the Massachusetts library system. Thus, a library member doing research and requiring reference materials not owned by the library, may access such materials through inter-library loan. The collection is further supplemented by the Book Mobile program, which provides a changing selection of books, audios, and videos, available for circulation.

Children's Corner
The library contains an extensive collection of children's literature, both traditional and contemporary. In addition, a collection of early reading books for young readers is available. Also, the library has a collection of videos and CD's available for circulation, and two computers for in-house use.

Special Collections
The library has a strong collection of Genealogy in Massachusetts; a special collection of Egremont and Berkshire County writers; and a Gardening collection covering all aspects of Horticulture.
